Aussiewide have been fantastic in helping us refinance, release equity and purchasing a property. Special mention to Jay Lever and his team. Jay was very communicative, personable and would even go over and above by reaching out to real estate agents for the houses we were interested in, to try and get more information for us. We will recommend Aussiewide to others and look forward to working with them in the future.

The Geelong Aussiewide team led by John have been instrumental in assisting me to refinance both our own home and our investment property. We had recently moved from low fixed rate mortgages to high rate variable with our previous lender. John and his team have sourced the best and most suitable lenders for our two loans, which will save me many thousands of dollars per year on interest. I found the team to be very friendly, knowledgeable and thorough throughout the re-financing process. They kept me informed at all times of where things were at and what I needed to provide and what I should expect.

John and his team made the re-finance possible after other brokers and lenders had declined our application.

Andrew and Lisa along with all the Aussiewide staff were exceptional in securing my wife and I a loan pre-approval. They also facilitated our refinance in a fast turn around time which helped us out immensely. They are extremely communicative, easy to reach and use easy online systems to allow quick and accurate borrowing estimates. I would not hesitate in recommending the team at Aussiewide and thank Andrew and Lisa again for all their help with our refinancing and loan pre-approvals.

Jay Lever from Aussiewide Financial Services helped us to refinance our mortgage. He found us an unbelievable rate and deal. He was quick to get a hold of, reliable, kept us in the loop with everything we needed to know, and followed things up promptly. We will be recommending Jay to our friends and family and using his services again when the time to refinance comes around again. Thanks Jay!

Very friendly and approachable staff. A big thank you to Andrew and Sanda for the professionalism and care , for the help of refinancing my home loan. Highly recommended this outstanding team.

Using Aussiewide to recently gain a personal loan for a car has been an easy process, and same day approval . Highly recommend Sanda for any personal loans.

We are extremely happy with the support, guidance, and hustle that our broker Jay Lever put in! As first home buyers he made the process stress free and explained everything in a way we understood. After our loan was approved, we needed to make a variation after an unexpected change from the builder- this was extremely stressful to say the least, but Jay went above and beyond to ensure we still had the best loan product for our situation and made sure we have come out on top. We highly recommend Jay Lever and the team at Aussiewide Financial Services and will be returning when are ready to refinance!

Frequently Asked Questions

The chat:
What does it cost?

Nothing. The lender pays us when your loan settles, so you get expert help without paying a cent.

Will it affect my credit score?

No. We will never make enquiries on your credit history without your express consent.

How long does it take?

About 20 minutes, by phone or video. You’re also welcome at our Moorabool Street office if you’d rather sit down in person.

Am I committing to anything?

No. You’ll leave knowing what rate you could be on and what switching would cost. What you do with that is entirely up to you.

Do I have to wait until my fixed rate ends?

No, you can move during a fixed term, though your lender charges a break cost to let you out early. If you’re near the end, start a few weeks out. The new loan is then ready the day your fixed rate expires, rather than you spending time on the revert rate.

What do I need to bring?

A recent home loan statement and a rough idea of what you earn and what you owe. Nothing needs to be exact.

Refinancing basics:
How much could I save?

It depends on your rate, your balance and how many years are left. Lenders often price new customers below existing ones, so the first thing we check is what your own lender is offering today.

Do I need 20% equity?

Not always. Below 20% you’ll usually pay lenders mortgage insurance again, and it can’t be transferred from your old loan. That one cost often decides whether switching is worth it.

Will my repayments definitely drop?

Not always. A lower rate brings them down, and extending your loan term brings them down further, but you pay more interest over the life of the loan. We’ll show you both numbers.

Can I borrow more at the same time?

Yes. Releasing equity for renovations, a car or an investment deposit is handled in the same application, and the lender assesses it on your current income and debts.

Will I have to prove my income again?

Yes, a refinance is a new loan application. Some lenders run a shorter check where you’re moving a like for like loan and your repayment history is clean.

Does refinancing reset my loan to 30 years?

Only if you choose a 30 year term. You can keep the years you have left, which stops you paying more interest overall.

Costs and timing:
What does refinancing cost?

A discharge fee to your current lender, a government fee to register the new mortgage and sometimes an application or valuation fee with the new lender. We’ll total your exact costs before you decide anything.

How much is a fixed rate break cost?

It’s worked out from what rates have done since you fixed, so it can be close to nothing or it can run into thousands. Your lender will give you the figure on request. Get it before anything else, because it decides whether moving early stacks up.

How long does refinancing take?

Two to six weeks from application to settlement. The slowest part is usually your current lender releasing the loan, not the new one approving it.

Will I lose my offset account or redraw?

Only if the new loan doesn’t have them, and most do. Money sitting in redraw with your old lender is paid out at settlement, so tell us about it early.

Are cashback offers still around?

Yes, though from fewer lenders than at the 2023 peak, when more than 30 offered one. None of the big four still pay a cashback to refinance, so the offers now sit with smaller banks and mutuals. We’ll tell you whether a cashback or a lower rate leaves you better off over the years you’ll hold the loan.

Working with us:
Why use a broker instead of going to my bank?

Your bank can only offer you its own loans. We compare 40+ lenders, including the banks, and the spread between them on rate and borrowing power can be worth tens of thousands over the life of a loan.

If your service is free, how do you get paid?

The lender pays us a commission when your loan settles. You pay the same as you would going to that lender directly.

Doesn't that make your advice biased?

No. Unlike the banks, brokers are legally bound by a Best Interests Duty, which means we’re required to put your interests first. Our 1,503+ five star reviews are a better measure than anything we could say here.

Should I just ask my current lender for a lower rate first?

We’ll do that for you. We ask your lender to match what you’d be offered elsewhere, and if they match it you get the lower rate without changing lenders. If they don’t, you already know what moving is worth.

How often should I review my loan?

Once a year, and whenever a fixed term ends. We review our clients’ loans without being asked.

What's the $5,000 Flight Centre draw about?

One winner is drawn for every 20 refinance approvals, and you’re entered when your loan settles with us. Victorian residents only, full terms and conditions apply.
